I am a qualified Person-Centered counsellor. Person-Centered counselling is a humanistic, non-directive approach based on the belief that the client has the innate tendency to develop to their full potential. As a Person-Centered therapist, I strive to be open, genuine and positively value my clients in all aspects of their humanity.
My approach is centred around acceptance and non-judgement, so you can be free to explore whatever it is you need to. My aim is to provide you with a warm, safe, therapeutic environment, within which we can explore together your world and experiences. My empathy and care, along with my awareness and understanding of diversity is at the heart of how I work. I have a deep respect for your individuality and personal background.
I have experience of working with a wide range of people, including different backgrounds, ages, cultures and identities, particularly LGB and transgender identities. I am also experienced in working with people on their journeys through issues, such as:
Abuse (and the many forms it can take, including physical, sexual, emotional), Anxiety, Bereavement, Bullying, Depression, Identity issues, Low self-esteem, Relationships, Self Harm, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Stress, Suicidal thoughts, Trauma, Work-related issues.
I hold a Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling with Distinction. I am a registered member of the BACP and work to the BACP Code of Ethics. I work as a counsellor in a variety of settings including an Adult Education college, an LGBTQ mental health charity and in private practice. I have also worked as a Counselling Skills tutor for students training as counsellors.
